To provide a supervised learning opportunity to students; to support externs to develop competencies in areas including, but not limited to: psychological testing, psychotherapy, and other clinical skills.

 

Responsibilities

To provide a supervised learning opportunity to students; to support externs to develop competencies in areas including, but not limited to: psychological testing, psychotherapy, and other clinical skills.

  • **Client Assessment**: Conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, including interviews and standardized tests, to understand clients' needs and issues.
  • **Therapeutic Interventions**: Developing and implementing appropriate therapeutic interventions and treatment plans, tailored to clients' specific conditions and goals.
  • **Supervised Client Interaction**: Engaging with clients under the supervision of licensed psychologists to ensure proper guidance and adherence to best practices.
  • **Case Documentation**: Maintaining accurate, detailed, and confidential records of client sessions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • **Ethical Compliance**: Understanding and applying ethical guidelines and legal standards in all aspects of clinical practice.
  • **Feedback and Improvement**: Actively participating in supervision meetings to receive feedback on clinical work and address areas for improvement.
  • **Collaboration with Professionals**: Working alongside other mental health professionals to provide holistic care for clients.
  • **Continuous Learning**: Engaging in ongoing education through workshops, seminars, and reading to stay updated on the latest developments in psychology.

Qualifications

  • **Strong Academic Background**: Completion of relevant coursework in psychology, including clinical psychology, psychopathology, and psychological assessment, often through a doctoral program.
  • **Clinical Skills**: Proficiency in conducting psychological assessments, administering tests, and formulating treatment plans.
  • **Interpersonal Skills**: The ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals.
  • **Ethical Understanding**: A solid grasp of ethical guidelines, confidentiality, and legal aspects related to clinical practice in psychology.
  • **Analytical Abilities**: Strong analytical skills to interpret psychological test results and formulate hypotheses about client behavior and mental processes.
  • **Cultural Competence**: Sensitivity and adaptability in working with diverse populations, respecting cultural differences, and tailoring interventions accordingly.
  • **Adaptability and Flexibility**: Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations, methodologies, and feedback from supervision
  • **Research Skills**: Experience with or understanding of research methodologies, which can be beneficial for evidence-based practice and contributing to research projects.

Education Required

Masters’s Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
