Clinical Supervisor - Identity & Acceptance Program/SCPS

The Department of Specialized Clinical and Psychiatric Services consists of psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, community providers and administrators providing a wide range of evidenced-based, trauma-informed models and services tailored to the evolving and complex needs of families, and regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay, including Trauma-Focused CBT, Trauma Systems Therapy, CBT, and specialized individual and family therapy for LGBTQIA+ clients, among others. We offer a hybrid schedule, an opportunity to be a part of a multidisciplinary team, clinical trainings in evidence-based modalities, departmental didactics, and supervision to support obtaining licensure.  

The New York Foundling’s Home of Integrated Behavioral Health, located in and serving East Harlem and the surrounding communities, proudly assists children and young adults up through age 21 and their families with evidence-based, trauma-informed mental health treatment and services. Based within The Foundling’s HIBH, the Identity & Acceptance program offers an array of specialized clinical services for LGBTQIA+ youth across New York City, including individual, group and family therapy, with the aim of creating a more equitable and inclusive world. The Clinical Supervisor will lead and support a team of therapists providing evidence-informed treatment to youth by providing direct clinical supervision.  Additionally, supervisors will also provide direct clinical care to a small caseload using evidence-based models

• Provide weekly individual and group supervision for the implementation of clinical services for up to 5 clinicians to ensure proper mental health model service delivery, monitor clinician performance, address areas of concern, provide clinical guidance and feedback, and promote clinical and professional development.
• Ensure clients in crisis receive the necessary support by providing clinical crisis support to clinicians and/or clients during hours of operation, after hours if needed, and participating in a weekend on-call rotational schedule. Be well-versed in safety protocols.
• Provide at least 2 days of onsite supervision support per week. Be well-versed in safety protocols, opening and closing protocols.
• Directly provide services/clinical treatment to assigned caseload. Provide coverage of these during vacancies to ensure continuity of services. Document efforts of such.
• Review clinician's paperwork, including but not limited to, intake assessments, treatment plan, and progress notes to ensure compliance with agency, model, and other governing body regulations. 
• Participate in required meetings/trainings/supervision to coordinate support for clients and foster team cohesion and training.
• Work with AVP to grow the team and participate in interview, weigh-in on hiring decisions, and support onboarding of frontline staff and potential supervisees. 
• Engage with and foster positive relationships (proactive communication, attending/coordinating meetings) with internal and external key stakeholders and key participants in client care to promote community integration and coordinate care for clients.
• Participate in monthly Program Monitoring Meetings to ensure team is successfully meeting all Key Performance Indicators. Share data with team on strengths and areas for growth and implement plans to address areas in which Key Performance Indicators are not met.

• Master's degree in Social Work, Mental health Counseling or related subject area.
• Must hold an active state license (such as LMHC, LMFT, LCAT, and/or LCSW).
• Leadership, management, or supervisory experience
• Strong individual and team organizational skills
• Effective verbal and written skills
• Computer literacy; including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, and electronic medical records
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills and 3-5 years of accumulated experience (internships through post-graduate) providing direct services to culturally diverse youth and their families. Clinical experience/training on common clinical problems, diverse populations served, and in modalities used within the department preferred. 
• Strong understanding and the ability to implement the following: risk and safety assessment, safety planning, trauma assessment, crisis management, incident reporting, treatment planning, and HIPAA policies
• An understanding and commitment to complying with the New York State Central Register of Abuse and Neglect protocol (requiring staff to comply with requirements to report any suspected abuse, maltreatment or neglect of any child)
• Creative, energetic, self-starter and independent worker
