The Family Respite Coordinator is primary in supporting respite families through hands-on fieldwork, including home visits, community engagement, and emergency response across all five boroughs of NYC. Working with interdisciplinary team to ensure caregiver readiness and program fidelity by delivering evidence-based training and engagement. 

 

 

Responsibilities

The Family Respite Coordinator is primary in supporting respite families through hands-on fieldwork, including home visits, community engagement, and emergency response across all five boroughs of NYC. Working with interdisciplinary team to ensure caregiver readiness and program fidelity by delivering evidence-based training and engagement.  

 

Responsibilities:

- Conduct in-person home studies, safety assessments, and interviews with household members to certify and annually recertify respite homes, ensuring compliance with OCFS and ACS standards through direct fieldwork.

 

- Facilitate evidence-based GenPMTO training and lead weekly in-person and hybrid support groups to strengthen caregiver readiness, skill development, and program fidelity in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams

 

- Serve as the primary point of contact for respite families by maintaining consistent communication and providing hands-on support through field visits and virtual engagement.

 

- Coordinate transportation and placement logistics for youth entering respite care homes, including field-based support during transitions to ensure emotional stability and safety.

 

- Engage in field-based community outreach by attending events, canvassing neighborhoods, and delivering presentations to stakeholders to recruit and retain respite families.

 

- Maintain accurate documentation in NYF, ACS, and model-specific systems to ensure compliance, accountability, and seamless service delivery across field and administrative operations.

 

- Collaborate with internal teams and finance to manage caregiver stipends, resolve financial needs, and support program logistics, while contributing to ongoing evaluation and achievement of performance goals.

 

- Respond to after-hours emergencies as part of a 24/7 on-call rotation, providing immediate field-based support and crisis intervention as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Community organizing or related Field. Bilingual Preferred but not required
  • 3+ years experience working with or providing services to at risk children and families in Child Welfare, with community organizing and outreach experience.
  • Energetic and approachable personality with strong skills in computer and marketing
  • Experience and willingness to work with the culturally diverse populations that are present among the program's target population
  • Open to reflective practice (i.e. has capacity for introspection, communicates awareness of self in relation to others, recognizes value of supervision)
  • Flexibility with schedule as program will need evening and weekend support. This is a 24/7 on call program for emergencies that arise during after hours.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)and comfortable with running groups and public speaking

Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
