Overview

The Director of Community Habilitation is responsible for coordinating and monitoring daily operations for the New York Foundling's Home and Community Based Waiver Program. Provide support to Community Habilitaiton Supervisors Direct Support Professionals.

Responsibilities

The Director of Community Habilitation is responsible for coordinating and monitoring daily operations for the New York Foundling's Home and Community Based Waiver Program. Provide support to Community Habilitaiton Supervisors Direct Support Professionals.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the organization’s mission to enhance community services, expand program offerings, and promote inclusion and advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Provide administrative oversight including but not limited to hiring, training, scheduling, intake process,evaluating and developing frontiline, supervisory staff in the DD Com Hab Department.
  • Monitor daily opertations and treatment service delivery to all Home and Community Based Waiver Programs in accordance with agency policies and procedures, adhering to OPWDD regulations and guidelines.
  • Establish and oversee quality assurance measures to monitor program effectiveness, compliance with regulatory standards, and achievement of outcomes; implement continuous improvement strategies based on data-driven insights.
  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with community partners, government agencies, advocacy groups, and stakeholders to enhance support networks, funding opportunities, and community integration for our participants.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to a multidisciplinary team of professionals, promoting professional growth, fostering a culture of excellence, and ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Oversee budget development, fiscal planning, and resource allocation to optimize program sustainability, efficiency, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities through public awareness campaigns, community outreach efforts, and participation in relevant forums and committees.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive leadership experience in a developmental disabilities program or related human services field, with a track record of successful program management, staff supervision, and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to inspire teams, build consensus, and drive organizational change; knowledge of funding streams, regulatory requirements, and trends in developmental disabilities services.
  • Strategic thinker with a passion for advancing the rights and opportunities of individuals with developmental disabilities, driving innovation and excellence in service delivery.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, transparency, and integrity in all aspects of program leadership and service provision.

Education Required

Masters’s Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
