Responsibilities

Camp Felix is a sleepaway camp located in Kent, CT. Transportation will be provided to the camp site.  

Mandatory Staff Training: Tuesday -Thursday July 22-24 in Manhattan and July 27 Kent, CT;

Camp Sessions: 

  • July 28 - August 1
  • August 4 - August 8

Salary: 900/week 

 

Job Responsibilities:

· Act as direct supervisor to counselors.

· Observe counselor’s performance in order to make appropriate improvements.

· Report observations regarding staff performance to Camp Director at meetings and informally, as needed

· Provide ongoing verbal feedback to counselors regarding their performance, positive and negative

· Write reviews of staff performance and discuss findings with staff during scheduled supervisory conferences

· Help to resolve conflicts among staff members and/or campers with the assistance of the Camp Director and/or Assistant Director

· Provide support to counselors when needed

· Confront problems or concerns with staff in a constructive manner

· Establish and maintain a positive relationship with staff so they can accept instruction

· Delegate necessary tasks to staff

· Understand tasks required of counselors

· Teach skills to counselors as needed and assess implementation of new skills

· Ensure that counselors are getting their campers out of the bunks and to all activities on time

· Keep counselors informed about changes in the schedule

· Assist with planning and implementation of activities as needed including specialty areas such as the pool, Electives, evening activities, etc.

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

· High School Diploma or G.E.D. required

· Must have experience working with children, preferably in a camp setting

· Experience supervising others is preferred

· Candidate must be energetic and enthusiastic

· Must be a hands-on worker and serve as a positive example to counselors and campers

· Must have excellent communication skills

· Must be able to work independently assessing what needs to be done and taking action

· Must be able to delegate to staff

· Must be able to create a positive relationship with counselors and staff

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to safety.
