As part of The Foundling’s comprehensive Foster Support Initiative for youth in foster care in New York City
and New York State, the College Success Coach role would include case planning duties in addition to the
general oversight of student life. The College Success Coach will represent the core of the program’s staffing,
and will oversee 18 students per College Success Coach as full-time employees of the New York Foundling.
• Reports directly to the Unit Lead (supervisor) or covering leadership
• Conducts mandatory 1:1 coaching session with all students for approximately 1 hour on a weekly basis or
based on their agreed upon support plan. With a minimum of face to face 2x a month and additional
capacity/use of telehealth support.
• Liaises with stakeholders and assists students in integrating into the CUNY (or other colleges)
environment on the various campuses.
• Ensures students have access to all supportive resources in college and any community services
• Maintain regular contact with students (via email/text/phone) and at least weekly in-person contact to
help them navigate college life and connect them with any needed resources.
• Monitor and raise any mental health concerns and/or other crisis needs to supervisor and plan on next
steps.
• Works with students to develop a financial plan allocating financial aid disbursements and ETV funds
for needed purchases such as lunch (which students will generally eat on campus), books, toiletries, and
clothing.
• Coordinates with Academic Advisor, FSI tutor, and student to develop long-term academic plan.
• Ensures that students in their group are attending mandatory events (which will include meetings with
their agency/opportunity programs, monthly all-student meetings, group dinners, tutoring, CSC checkins).
• Availability to residents on a consistent basis during the evening and weekend hours to address any
concerns that may arise as it relates to all aspects including crisis de-escalation, college support, and
overall social-emotional wellbeing
• Plans and oversees a rotating schedule of non-mandatory events both individually and with other CSC’s
in order to ensure the events are chosen based on demonstrated student interest.
• Documents student behavior based on situations in Electronic Health Record and other stakeholder
systems that may cause a level of concern for formal address; completion of NYF incident report and
submission to the CQI department for further exploration
• Adheres to program protocol’s and procedures and maintains clear, concise and accurate approved
documentation of efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback, and that demonstrates
compliance with ACS, CUNY, and meeting our agency’s expectation. Assures documentation (data
entry) for contacts, incidents, and reports are submitted timely (as indicated by program)
• Is in attendance and available for weekly supervision (both group and individual).
• Builds a relationship with CUNY staff members to ensure collaboration and proactive communication
among CUNY, ACS, and Foundling staff.
• Adopts a strength focused approach with students, families, stakeholder, and within the program.
• Maintains a professional relationship with students at all times.
• Maintains communication with supervisor on advances and barriers experienced and reports immediately any concern to supervisor or covering supervisor
• Splits time between locations in the community, identified schools, Foundling offices
• Has ability to maintain confidential client records.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Data entry systems.
• Willingness to provide coverage support as needed to peers/team members
• Provides on campus and/off campus support as needed for program operation
• Ability to travel outside of assigned borough/region based off of client needs.
• Respond to email correspondences in a timely manner.

o Any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned.
Salary Range: $52,530 - $59,830/year
